Restyle Day 26 – Denim

I was pretty excited when I spotted this denim skirt. I don’t usually gravitate towards dark denim but I loved the cut and the fact that it didn’t have a waistband. And in case you’re wondering, no, it didn’t come this distressed.

If you’re thinking about doing this yourself, here’s how:

Step 1: Mark out where you want the rips. It’s probably a good idea to mark the spots while you’re actually wearing the item so you can see where the tears will fall on your body. If you want one particular area to be quite distressed, mark out a few horizontal lines about 1cm apart.

Step 2: Using fabric scissors, cut along your lines.

Step 3: Using a pick, pull the white cotton threads away from the blue cotton. Once you’ve done this for a while, you’ll notice that the blue cotton starts to come lose.

Step 4: Then you can pull out the blue cotton threads completely between your rips, leaving only the white behind.

Step 5: Et voila!
