Pretty Little Package

Pretty Little Package

Blogging, social media and the Internet as a whole has no doubt opened up the world and broken down barriers between people. It’s easier than ever to get in touch with family and friends on the other side of the world but at the same time, we are more cut off from each other than ever. Of course the ugly side of social media is the rise in recent years of cyber bullying. The increase of suicides caused by cyber bullying is truly devastating but we can start making a difference, even if it is a small one.

Here’s two things I’ve realised while looking at these photos;

1. I don’t wear accessories
2. I almost always have a hair tie around my wrist.

And once again, it’s black on black on black for lunch today at the oldest pub in Perth. Maybe I can distract myself from this awful season we call Winter by actually playing around with some accessorising.

On My Mind

1. The amazing collection by Hungary label, Nanushka. That skirt, that skirt! (first seen here)

2. The impending arrival of my new glossy arm swag. I’m just ignoring the fact that Baby G decided to make Kesha the face of their line.

3. Realising that the little white powder is in fact bad for you, and quitting sugar is an inevitable reality I should just face up to.

4. My continuing obsession with finding a luxe to less version of the white lace Dolce & Gabbana dress that Dree Hemingway wore.

5. Being onto my third tube of Nars’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Sex Machine.

6. Temples and sunsets in far away places.

I hope your weekend has been magical xx

I spent an amazing 4 days in the South West this week – part work, part play. Rain and sunshine, amazing food and wine, beaches and bush, long drives and lots of laughing, sunsets and sunrises, late nights and naps. I can’t wait to do it all again.

Today I celebrated the impending arrival of one of my dear friend’s first child. And celebrate we did with copious amounts of tea and sugar at Rochelle Adonis. If you haven’t been to Rochelle’s beautiful studio to indulge in high tea then I recommend you wear your stretchy pants because you will be full to the brim with some of the most beautiful treats you’ve ever laid your eyes on.

Congratulations Simone, we can’t wait to meet your bundle of joy xx

So I’ve taken the plunge and signed up for a 30 day Bikram Yoga challenge. If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you probably would have noticed that I’m a Bikram fan. I’ve been practicing on and off for about 4 years now, always flirting with the idea of committing to the hot room for a solid month. But social life and other commitments got in the way (aka excuses) but this year I’m in. And to make matters worse, I’ve boasted to pretty much everyone I know that I’ve signed up for 3o classes in 30 days so if I fail, everyone is going to know about it. Motivation? Yes!

Because of this huge commitment The Kids Are In Trouble may be a little quiet over the next 30 days. I suspect when I’m not in class I’ll be huddled up in a corner weeping… or some other kind of dramatic overreaction. I will check in weekly to keep you updated on my progress though, and you can hit me up on Twitter or Instagram for more frequent updates.

Hello world, hello 2013. I’ve been a little bit absent lately but with good reason. I’ve given this blog a makeover – a new name and a new look and I couldn’t be happier with the result (Thank you J, for all your help and for listening to my constant whinging!)

The new name, The Kids Are In Trouble, is taken from the opening line of The National’s Conversation 16, from the album High Violet. An album that I’ve fallen head over heels in love with. I won’t go into the reasons behind the change too much except to say that the new name and minimalist look resonate with me much more than The Perfect Symmetry ever did.

So here’s to a new year and a new start.
